Holcim Belgium has always been committed to explaining its projects in a transparent manner and to listening carefully to all stakeholders. This open dialogue has been instrumental at every stage of the project's evolution, from conception to implementation, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
As part of our commitment to transparency and inclusiveness, we regularly hold preliminary information meetings (PIMs), as required by law. Going beyond statutory obligations, we have opted to engage directly with citizens, fostering an environment conducive to open and constructive dialogue.
These gatherings serve as opportunities for the local community to pose inquiries and receive thorough, well-documented responses, underscoring our commitment to transparency and cooperation.
Complementing this, citizens' meetings were carefully planned to enable a fruitful exchange on the issues and solutions envisaged.
At every stage, we were careful to present comprehensive documentation, and the entire Holcim Belgium management team was mobilized to provide the necessary explanations, reaffirming our dedication to advancing hand in hand with the community towards project success and mutual endorsement.
The creation of a new industrial infrastructure, initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change, the development of innovative materials, and an inventive approach to construction — these aspects collectively position GO4ZERO at the forefront of crucial issues, affecting planetary, national, regional and local scales. The project owes its inception to the unwavering support and guidance offered by authorities at every level.
Working closely with the local authorities, we took charge of the administrative procedures required to build and operate the new facilities. Continuous consultation facilitated the cultivation of a climate of trust, essential for addressing the challenges inherent in a project of such magnitude and for facilitating ongoing adaptation to evolving circumstances.
On a broader European scale, authorities have developed an ambitious framework to confront the climate crisis, most notably through initiatives like the Green Deal, which encompasses a significant industrial focus. GO4ZERO stood out among a select group of projects and secured unprecedented funding from the Innovation Fund due to its innovative approach and its direct relevance to the global fight against climate change.
The involvement of both federal and regional governments is crucial for the success of GO4ZERO. Collaborating seamlessly with European authorities, they are instrumental in ensuring that our country, thanks to this project, remains a leader in industrial decarbonization, economic revitalization, and reindustrialization. The aim is to highlight our strengths: our strategic location, the excellence of our transport infrastructure, the dynamism and quality of our training, and our steadfast dedication to sustainable energy practices.
